 e of Esri’s Cartographic Experience Designer\, this talk marries informa
 tion architecture taxonomy—i.e. the logical/conceptual grouping of ideas
 —with cartographic design principles. Often overlooked in IA proper\, th
 e details of cartography can go a long way in tacitly amplifying one’s s
 ite structure for users.\n\n### About Nicholas\nNicholas Bauch is a geogra
 pher and artist who brings together spatial thought and creative media pro
 duction. While working at Stanford University\, his pioneering web-based g
 eography\, “Enchanting the Desert\,” helped set a template for publish
 ing born-digital scholarship in academic presses. He holds a Ph.D. in Geog
 raphy from UCLA\, and an M.F.A. in Visual Art from the University of Minne
 sota\, where his 2021 photo-gravure artist book was acquired by the Gorman
  Rare Art Books and Media Collection. He works as a Cartographic Experienc
 e Designer at Esri\, and in his spare time likes taking his kids to retro
