DESCRIPTION: There are clues in our familiar built environment that can hel
 p us see the world differently\, opening portals to different times and pl
 aces. One of these clues is the ubiquitous red postbox on your street corn
 ers. Royal cyphers on postboxes are ornate embossed symbols that tell us w
 hen the postbox was installed and which monarch was on the throne at the t
 ime. \n\n We'll visit some of the postboxes of south Birmingham\, using th
 ese cyphers to take us on a journey through the history of suburban develo
 pment\, considering the important cultural and political events of each mo
 narch's reign. As we zigzag back and forth through time we'll also think a
 bout postbox colours\, locations and the changing role of postboxes in a h
 yper-connected\, digital world. \n\n Will we be able to find postboxes for
  each of the seven monarchs since Victoria? How will we date our postboxes
  if the monarchy is abolished? Come along and explore these questions toge
 ther. \n\n We will also be making use of the postboxes for their intended 
 function and invite you to think of someone you'd like to send a message t
 o and make sure you have their address on the day. \n\n This event is part
  of Walkspace's Autumn Season. \n\n PAY WHAT YOU FEEL. Walkspace doesn't r
 eceive any regular funding but it costs money and a great deal of time and
  effort to keep this show on the road. If you are in a position to please 
 donate what you can\, however no one will be denied a place due to lack of
