DESCRIPTION: Seminar Title: Making Research Matter: Communicating Scholarsh
ip for Real-World Impact \n\n Abstract: This research explores a question
that concerns scholars across disciplines: how can academic work achieve m
eaningful\, long-term impact beyond academia? While most researchers aspir
e to produce work that influences practice\, policy\, and public debate\,
relatively few publications gain visibility outside scholarly circles. In
this project\, we investigate how publishing accessible managerial summari
es of academic research — in outlets such as practitioner journals and b
logs — can significantly enhance the societal and managerial reach of ac
ademic work. \n\n Across multiple studies\, we demonstrate that translatin
g research into concise\, practice-oriented formats increases attention fr
om business professionals\, media outlets\, and policy stakeholders. We fu
rther examine the role of generative AI in facilitating this translation p
rocess by improving comprehensibility and perceived practical relevance. T
he findings provide theoretically grounded and practically actionable insi
ghts for scholars seeking to amplify the societal reach of their research.
