DESCRIPTION: Seminar Title: Navigating the Publishing Journey: IJOPM Opport
unities\, Processes and Avoiding Desk Rejection \n\n Abstract: In this int
eractive session\, Professor Jens Roehrich (University of Bath\, UK)\, co
Editor in Chief of the Top 3 empirical operations and supply chain managem
ent journal\, the International Journal of Operations &amp\; Production Ma
nagement\, offers a look behind the scenes of journal operations - from su
bmission pipelines and key performance metrics to diverse publishing oppor
tunities for scholars at all career stages. Participants will gain a clear
understanding of the editorial process\, including what happens after sub
mission\, how papers are evaluated and the most common reasons for desk re
jection. The session also provides practical guidance on crafting manuscri
pts that resonate with editors and reviewers. It concludes with an open Q&
amp\;A\, giving attendees the opportunity to explore questions about publi
shing strategy\, journal fit and scholarly development. \n\n Bio: Professo
r Jens Roehrich is a Chair in Supply Chain Innovation at the School of Man
agement\, University of Bath\, UK. He is also a Visiting Academic at Bayes
Business School (UK)\, Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI\; Italy) and Trinity
College Dublin (TCD\; Ireland). He is a Co-Editor-in-Chief (EiC) for the
International Journal of Operations &amp\; Production Management (IJOPM)\,
an ABS4-ranked empirical operations and supply chain management journal.
\n\n Jens grew up in Germany and is an engineer by first degree. He moved
to the UK in 2004 and obtained his MSc and PhD degrees from the School of
Management\, University of Bath. Subsequently\, he was a researcher at Imp
erial College Business School\, Imperial College London\, UK\, before re-j
oining the University of Bath in 2011. Between 2017 and 2022\, Jens was th
e Director of the HPC Supply Chain Innovation Lab\, an exciting partnershi
p between the University of Bath and the EDF\, one of the largest energy p
roviders in the world. This funded partnership advanced practice\, policy
and science concerning the management of complex supply chains and large p
rojects. \n\n Individual and collaborative research activities have emphas
ised a research focus on long-term inter-organisational relationship manag
ement across public and private organisations. Within this agenda\, signif
icant strands of research explore: (i) the interplay of contractual and re
lational governance mechanisms\; (ii) procuring and managing complex capit
al projects such as public-private partnerships and megaprojects\; (iii) h
ow to deal with the dark side of relationships such as conflicts\, coordin
ation failure and trust breaches\; and (iv) sustainable supply chain manag
ement. His award-winning research is multidisciplinary\, drawing theoretic
al inspiration and methodological support from operations\, supply chain a
nd project management\, strategy\, innovation management\, healthcare mana
gement and public management. Jens has used a variety of methods (with a p
articular focus on (longitudinal) case studies and experiments) and data s
 ources (e.g. rich interviews\, observations\, site visits and workshops\,
experimental data\, secondary and contract data). \n\n The interdisciplina
ry nature of his research has resulted in publications in not only core op
erations\, supply chain and project management journals\, but also publica
tions in leading general management\, industrial marketing\, policy/public
management and healthcare management outlets. His research has been publi
shed in journals such as the Journal of Operations Management\, Production
and Operations Management\, Journal of Management Studies\, International
Journal of Operations &amp\; Production Management\, British Journal of M
 anagement\, Social Science &amp\; Medicine\, Public Management Review\, an
d California Management Review\, among others. \n\n Jens has acted as a vi
siting researcher and lecturer at leading institutions such as The Wharton
School\, University of Pennsylvania\, Massachusetts Institute of Technolo
gy (MIT) in Boston\, W.P. Carey Business School at Arizona State Universit
y\, Politecnico di Milano\, Trinity College Dublin and at numerous UK univ
ersities. He has carried out award-winning research\, consultancy\, execut
ive education and competence development activities with a wide range of p
ublic and private sector organisations such as EDF\, Environment Agency\,
GKN\, NHS and Maersk. He has also won prizes for his reviewing and Associa
te Editor activities\, and he currently acts an Associate Editor for the J
ournal of Operations Management\, among others. His insights have been pro
 filed in\, for instance\, Forbes\, The Times – Raconteur\, APM’s Proje
ct Magazine\, CIPS’s Supply Management\, The Conversation and Southwest
Business Insider. \n\n Note: Tea\, coffee\, and sandwiches will be provide
d in front of Café Jolt (Lower Ground Floor) at 11:30 am. \n\n Photograph
s will be taken during this seminar and may be shared on social media. If
you do not wish to appear\, please notify tbs.research@tcd.ie. \n
