 n 8:20pm - Networking \n 9:00pm - Close \n \n\n 🌟 Speakers \n\n Speaker
: Mary Ottman (Retired US Army Executive Leader\, Founder of Ottman Premie
r Services) \n\n Bio: Mary Ottman is a highly trained Women’s Empowermen
 t &amp\; Leadership Expert\, Professional Speaker &amp\; Author. \n\n The
Serious: With an MBA and a Masters in Leadership\, Mary has forged a succe
ssful 27+ year career transforming herself from electrical engineer to suc
cessful executive leading multi-generational teams consisting of governmen
 t\, industry\, academia and not-for-profits. \n\n The Scintillating: Mary
is a unique combination of highly trained leadership expert\, former count
ry singer/songwriter\, fearless adventurer able to leap off a tall 108-sto
ry building\, and retired associate director formerly managing 150 rocket
scientists. \n\n Mary is on a mission to empower others to stop playing sm
all\, to overcome Imposter Syndrome\, to find their voice and speak up so
others benefit from their valuable experience and expertise. \n\n Talk: Ca
lm\, Cool &amp\; Collaborative: The 3C Leadership Principles You Need to L
 ead &amp\; Succeed in Today's Chaotic\, Fast-Paced Tech Environment \n\n Y
ou have stellar technical skills and you are a champion task slayer when i
t comes to cranking out the technical work. You are recognized for your fa
ntastic work by your leadership and you are recognized as an expert in you
r technical area. \n\n But are you ready to be a leader? \n\n You need str
ategies and skills to nurture highly effective and collaborative teams of
willing and eager professionals who are 100% behind your vision for your o
 rganization's success. \n\n Your team needs a calm\, cool &amp\; collabora
tive leader. \n\n You can use the 3C Leadership Principles to get you ther
 e. \n\n \n\n Speaker: Chad Bailey (Senior Manager\, Heroku Support/Salesfo
rce) \n\n Bio: Chad Bailey worked on the Space Shuttle (back when that was
still a thing) before moving to a career on the web. He spent several yea
rs as a Rails developer before joining the support team at Heroku. He now
manages a team of support specialists that solve some of the craziest prob
lems you can imagine for some of the biggest companies in tech. \n\n Talk:
Hiring: From Terrible to Terrific \n\n As a leader\, hiring the right te
am is the most important thing you do. So why do we do such an awful job i
nterviewing people? Candidates hate our silly brain teaser questions and S
QL pop quizzes\, and many managers just end up hiring on intuition anyway.
\n\n I've stumbled upon a few techniques that have made our interviews a
lot less miserable—even occasionally fun—and have helped us find some
excellent people at the same time. I want to tell you about those techniqu
es and the ideas that produced them\, so you can get a little better at fi
nding the people you need too. \n\n Did you know The Lead Developer is an
international conference for tech leaders? We'll be back in Austin on Nov
ember 8\, 2019. You can check out last year's conference talks here. \n
