They were a founding member of Vancouver underground music venues the ALF Haus (2002- )\, the Secret Location (2005-2020)\, &\; the short-liv ed Death Church (2009-2014) in Montréal. Michigan works for hyper-local a rts groups with queer\, anti-racist\, anarchist values. She’s also a pre p and line cook\, specializing in vegan &\; “whole” food. \n\n Mich igan’s fine arts training is in theatre\, video\, film\, creative writin g\, and animation in that order. She has vocal training from various priva te tutors\, and studied community organizing\, harm reduction\, and peer s upport with NGOs. Their more recent academic history is in interdisciplina ry geography\, urbanism\, &\; landscape ecology. Michigan’s current p ractice is a mix of culinary arts\, writing\, drawing\, music\, and ecolog ical field studies. They live on the unceded territories of the xʷməθk ʷəy̓əm\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh\, and Sel̓íl̓witulh Nations\, in so-calle d “Vancouver\, Canada”. \n\n The Grove Audiovisual Research Unit is an experimental music and art project led by artist-filmmaker Simon Nunn &am p\; noise musician Ryan Jordan (noise=noise). This evocative endeavor delv es into the eerie and the unknown\, centering on sonic manipulations of fi eld recordings captured in a haunted woodland in Suffolk. At the heart of the project is the exploration of the supernatural phenomenon known as The Rougham Mirage. \n\n Blending ambient textures\, drone\, hard noise\, and interviews\, the Unit weaves a rich sonic tapestry\, incorporating techni ques drawn from paranormal investigation and experimental sound research.
