DESCRIPTION: Thu 2 Oct - an illustrated presentation\, being the inaugural
salon of The Wrong Gallery\, Kings Heath. \n\n John Baskerville is Birming
ham’s great lost hero. The ripples of his printing and typographic influ
ence are still felt today\, 250 years after his death. Yet Birmingham pres
ents him as a background player rather than a paradigm of success in art i
n industry\, with his gravestones and japanning lost\, his only known port
rait held in the depths of the museum storeroom and his grave unmarked. \n
\n Ben Waddington explores the greater timeline of John Baskerville—what
remains and what was lost—in this illustrated presentation at the Wrong
Gallery salon. \n\n The hour-long presentation will be followed by Q&amp\
;A\, conversation and a chance to explore the intriguing labyrinthine Wron
g Gallery. \n\n The Wrong Gallery has toilet facilities but steep steps up
to the ground floor door and stairs throughout the gallery means it is in
accessible to those with limited mobility. \n
