It is an exciting globally competitive high-growth sector\, which is expected to continue to expand exponentially. \n\n But with little or no background in the indust ry\, how does any company manage to get a foothold\, or even find their ow n successful path to becoming a supplier in the space sector? \n\n Join us at our DSM event to hear from some of those who've already trodden that p ath. They'll be sharing their insights on their personal journeys into spa ce\, on all kinds of topics from how to submit a successful bid\, to the l atest developments and opportunities in the field. \n\n With presentations and case studies\, our expert speakers will be covering space application s\, satellite communications\, new technologies\, space manufacturing -- and how to get started. \n\n Our speakers will include: \n\n Rob Rowsell ( Engineering Director\, Wirth Research): \n\n Rob has been with Wirth Resea rch for 18 years. He holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering fr om University of Manchester (UMIST) and specialises in aerodynamics and Co mputational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Rob is also a Chartered Engineer with IM echE and leads a team of talented and innovative engineers who are all pas sionate about cost-effective sustainable solutions. \n\n His experience ha s led to him being involved in the development of championship-winning Ind yCars\, Le Mans 24hr winning sportscars\, and the first CFD-only developed F1 car. He has since been leading the effort to use those engineering ski lls to develop sustainability products and services for the built environm ent and other sectors. With over two decades of experience in high tech en gineering\, Rob brings valuable expertise to any project he takes on. \n\n Dom Holmes (Development Test Engineer\, Oxford Space Systems): \n\n Dom p rovides technical oversight of testing and the testing process within Oxfo rd Space Systems (OSS). He has seven years of experience within the indust ry\, having previously run qualification test campaigns for ejection seats at Martin Baker Aircraft Co.\, and led the mechanical testing and verific ation efforts of heavy lift drones at Animal Dynamics. \n\n Henny Sands (H ead of Telecoms Operational Strategy and Delivery\, UK Space Agency): \n\n After starting out in international development\, Henny got his first tec hnology role in 2005\, delivering low carbon technology roadshows across t he UK. Henny moved into the civil service shortly afterwards\, and spent t he next ten years using customer insight to improve access to public servi ces\, including the police and tax authorities\, before moving to the UK S pace Agency in 2018. \n\n Since then\, Henny has assessed over £2bn of sp ace technology proposals\, and overseen more than 150 successful programme s\, covering areas from low-cost flat panel antennas to new space operator services. Henny is the current Head of Telecommunications at the UK Space Agency and is responsible for all satellite and lunar communications stra tegies and programmes. \n\n Alex Goodhand (Manufacturing Engineer\, Satell ite Applications Catapult): \n\n With a strong background in mechanical en gineering\, and specialising in additive manufacturing for space applicati ons\, Alex obtained a PhD by conducting ground-breaking research on materi al characterisation using an additive manufacturing machine in a vacuum ch amber. \n\n Currently based in Westcott\, Buckinghamshire\, Alex's career journey has seen a progression from undertaking a mechanical fitting appre nticeship through to becoming an accomplished engineer. In addition to his daily responsibilities of incubating SMEs\, Alex also leads a prominent w orking group in collaboration with the HVMC and the UK Space Agency. This group focuses on leveraging existing skills and technologies in the UK to support the rapidly growing space industry\, fostering innovation\, and ma ximising manufacturing capabilities. \n\n Alex's expertise lies in the fie ld of additive manufacturing\, particularly in the context of space applic ations. His in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in this area have p ositioned him as a respected authority. \n\n Beyond his professional pursu its\, Alex is known for his passion for pushing the boundaries of technolo gy and innovation. He has a powerful desire to contribute to the advanceme nt of space exploration and promoting the role manufacturing must play in the sector. \n\n Martin Lee (Airbus Defence and Space\, Programme Procurem ent Manager): \n\n Martin has over 20 years’ experience in defence\, spa ce programmes and procurement. \n\n He leads Airbus’ UK strategic suppli er programme\, focusing on an ecosystem of cross-industry alliances to ens ure the widest possible view of the established and emerging suppliers\, e nsuring that early engagement with UK Defence\, Security and Space supplie rs at all levels. \n\n Martin is also the Airbus UK SME Champion\, respons ible for Airbus’ SME action plan and for updating their SME agenda. Mart in nurtures early engagement and interaction with UK Defence\, Security an d Space suppliers -- especially those who can offer world class innovative \, disruptive and competitive products and services which complement the A irbus Defence and Space R&\;T&\;D roadmaps and product portfolio. \n \n Martin has been with Airbus for 18 years following a 23-year career in HM Forces and 5 years with other UK defence contractors. He has a wealth o f subcontract management experience\, having worked with incubators and ac celerators at all levels\, (start-ups\, SME\, mid-tier and prime defence a nd space suppliers) to deliver high value\, complex programmes in the defe nce and commercial sectors. \n\n Jamie Yeomans (Account Manager\, Altair): \n\n Jamie leads Altair’s business development within the Midlands and South West regions of the UK.
