DESCRIPTION: SF Python is bringing its Project Night to Yelp. It's going to
be an evening with about ~125 Python devs getting your questions answered
\, sharing your knowledge\, hacking and taking tutorials. \n\n We are grat
eful our venue host Yelp will be providing food and drinks for this event.
\n\n Those without a ti.to registration will be asked to register onsite
and be admitted after 6:45pm if we have not met our venue's capacity limit
. \n\n Who should attend? \n\n \n New to Python and want to work with othe
r Pythonistas \n Experienced devs who want to hack on your work\, personal
or open-source projects \n Experienced devs who want to mentor others \n
Anyone that's interested in our tutorial offerings \n \n\n The plan: \n\n
 \n 6:00p Begin check-in \n 6:50p Introductions: tell us about your project
and/or the kind of help you seek \n 7:00p Make yourself comfortable and s
tart hacking\, or attend one of the tutorials \n 7:30p Door Close \n 9:30p
Wrap up / Hard Stop \n \n\n Tutorials offered: \n\n Data Science with Pan
das with Nick Schmandt \n\n This tutorial will cover the basics of using p
andas for data science. We will give a brief overview of the python fundam
entals but those already somewhat familiar with python will probably get t
he most out of the demonstration. \n\n A demo dataset will be provided\, a
nd we will walk through the process of loading the data\, performing simpl
e analytics on the different areas of the data\, and then finally we will
construct a classifier using the sklearn package. \n\n You'll need to Pyth
on 3 and the science ecosystem (Jupyter Notebook\, Pandas\, sklearn\, etc)
installed to complete the exercises. The easiest way to get all this is t
o have a recently updated Anaconda installation. You'll also need two data
sets. Download https://goo.gl/7Diu95 and https://goo.gl/5tCsbC to your la
ptop before class... \n\n Web Scraping for beginners with Simeon Franklin
\n\n This tutorial for beginner Pythonistas will be an easy introduction t
o making HTTP requests and processing html with lxml. Attendees will learn
to write command line programs to extract structured data from web pages.
\n\n Some Python exposure will help but the tutorial will be accessible t
o beginners. Please have a working Python3.6 (or greater) installation. If
you don't have Python installed I recommend installing Anaconda Python (h
 ttps://www.anaconda.com/download/). \n\n CHECK-IN PROCESS \n\n \n Doors op
en at 6:00pm. Please wait outside without blocking the building entrance.
Security will check ID and stop admitting guests at 7:30p. \n Wait-listed
folks or those without a tito registration will be admitted after 6:45pm i
f we have not met our venue's capacity limit. \n Please park your bikes on
the street. \n \n\n Hope to see you there! \n
