DESCRIPTION: Into Python and want to experience how cool the Python Communi
ty is? \n\n Join ~150 Pythonistas at SF Python's Project Night on Feb 19!
\n\n The format is similar to an un-conference. We start with a free food
and drink reception from our generous sponsor Optimizely. After formal int
roductions\, Pythonistas join up with like minds to: \n\n \n enjoy our fea
tured tutorial \n learn\, share\, and contribute at planned and spontaneou
s Special Interest Groups (SIG) \n hack on your own projects \n \n\n Tutor
 ials offered \n\n Snek - a Python-inspired language in 2kb of RAM \n\n Sne
k is a new programming language inspired in Python. Snek is designed to be
small and easy to teach. \n\n The project was created by veteran open-sou
rce developer Keith Packard in 2018 in his effort as a voluntary teacher o
f Robotics to middle school kids between 10 and 14 years. \n\n The desire
for a small and easy to teach language led Snek to include only a subset o
f Python features\, Snek has no classes or generators\, for instance\, but
  the Pythonic feeling is there\, with functions\, loops\, dictionaries\, a
nd list. \n\n Snek supports microcontrollers with as low as 2kB of RAM and
32kB of ROM. Snek could also be used on Linux\, Mac\, Windows and also in
a web browser thanks to its WebAssembly port. \n\n In this tutorial\, we
will cover what is Snek and how it was created\, what the intended usages
and how to install it and get started. \n\n Paulo Henrique Silva will demo
Snek running on PC and on Arduino-based microcontrollers. Bring your own
Arduino if you want to try as well. \n\n There is no pre-requisite\, as lo
ng as you know a little of Python you already know Snek. \n\n Shell Specia
l Powers with Simeon Franklin \n\n Everybody spends time at the command li
ne. If you don't\, you should! Learn tips and tricks for living in the int
eractive shell + practice with some command line power tools. Bring your f
avorite command line tips to share! \n\n Special interest groups \n\n Pyda
ta SIG \n\n The PyData SIG brings together people interested in statistics
\, machine learning\, and deep learning to share ideas and learn from each
other. The focus will be Python's scientific stack - NumPy\, SciPy\, Pand
 as\, scikit-learn\, PyTorch\, TensorFlow\, Keras\, and related packages. \
n\n Beginner SIG \n\n Just getting started learning Python or programming
in general? Come to the beginner SIG and work to up your Python skills. \n
 \n The plan: \n\n \n 6:00p Begin check-in \n 6:50p Introductions: tell us
about your project and/or the kind of help you seek \n 7:00p Make yourself
comfortable and start hacking\, or attend one of the tutorials or SIGs \n
7:30p Door Close \n 9:30p Wrap up / Hard Stop \n \n\n Who should attend?
\n\n \n Anyone interested in our planned tutorial or SIGs \n Anyone who wa
nt to hack on your work\, personal or open-source projects \n Experienced
devs who want to lead a regular or spontaneous discussion group \n Anyone
interested in mentoring others \n \n\n This event is produced by \n\n SF P
ython\, a volunteers-run organization aiming to foster the Python Communit
y in the Bay Area. Please check out their flagship event\, PyBay\, and con
sider joining their 5th Annual Regional Python Conference in SF in August2
 020. \n\n Venue and reception is through the generosity of Carta. At Cart
a\, we’re building the future of equity and ownership. We’ve changed h
ow companies\, investors\, and employees manage equity. Now\, we’re tran
sforming how capital markets operate. Our goal is to create more owners an
d increase transparency and liquidity for shareholders. More than 800\,000
investors\, law firms\, and employees use our platform\, and we manage ov
 er $575B in equity. \n
