DESCRIPTION: On March 8\, learn about Sanic\, one of the first asynchronous
Python web frameworks to use the Python 3.5+ async/await keywords. Then\
, get into the spirit of PyCon 2017 by voting on your favorite Python-powe
red startup. \n\n Async/await is a fairly new topic and SF Python is sup
er excited that Eli Uriegas\, the lead maintainer of Sanic\, will be comin
g from San Antonio Texas to tell us more. Eli will cover how Sanic uses a
sync\, it's advantages\, and useful applications of async/await outside of
the standard httprequests / sleep and print applications that we see in P
ython's standard documentation. He will also provide examples that includ
e things like asyncio protocol implementation\, using that asyncio protoco
l with async functions\, and how to run all of these in an asyncio loop (p
referably uvloop). \n\n Eli works at Rackspace and also contributes to ope
ncafe\, an OpenStack project. He has also authored nba_py. \n\n Then\, ge
t to know the most promising python-powered start-ups in SF/Bay Area. The
presenting start-ups are screened and hand picked by PyCon’s Startup Ro
w organizers. And now\, we need your vote\, and the judges'\, to gift a d
eserving start-up a free booth to showcase their company at PyCon Portland
  2017. \n\n Companies presenting at Startup Row: \n\n • Deepgram – De
epgram develops and deploys a deep learning-powered speech search engine.
 \n\n • Ledger (stealth) – Ledger helps friends split bills. \n\n • F
loydHub – FloydHub is building a platform-as-a-service for training and
deploying deep learning models in the cloud. \n\n • Relimetrics – Reli
metrics combines machine learning\, computer vision and structural enginee
ring expertise to automate reliability and QA testing in manufacturing. \n
\n • UnifyID – UnifyID combines implicit authentication with machine l
earning to uniquely identify users based on novel biometric data. \n\n •
FOSSA – FOSSA is a service that helps companies monitor compliance with
  open source software licenses. \n\n Agenda: \n\n 6:00p - Check-in and min
gle\, with pizza and beer provided by our generous sponsor Yelp! \n\n 7:05
 p - Welcome \n\n 7:10p - Main Talk and Q&amp\;A \n\n 7:50p - Announcement
s while Startup Row panel sets up \n\n 7:55p - Startup Row pitches and Q&a
 mp\;A \n\n 9:00p - More mingling \n\n 9:30p - Doors close \n\n SF Python
is run by volunteers aiming to foster the Python community in the Bay Are
 a. Please consider making a donation to SF Python and saying a big thank y
ou to Yelp for providing pizza\, beer\, and the venue for this Wednesday's
meetup. \n\n Yelp sees 89 million mobile users and 79 million desktop use
rs every month. Keeping everything running smoothly requires the best and
brightest in the industry. Their engineers come from diverse technical bac
kgrounds and value digital craftsmanship\, open-source\, and creative prob
 lem-solving. They write tests\, review code\, and push multiple times a d
ay. Come out and talk to them. \n
