DESCRIPTION: 10:00am – 1:00pm \n\n Kids GET IT! is a workshops for childr
 en ages 11-14. This interactive class is designed to appeal to those with 
 an avid curiosity\, desire to learn new things\, and who you just can’t 
 get on the computer or phone. The workshop will demonstrate the intricacie
 s of IT careers and the development core concepts in a dynamic and easy to
  learn setting. The workshop will introduce kids to the world of creation 
 in several fields\, while showcasing the fun and creativity it encompasses
 . \n\n Session 1:Getting Educated about Information Technology (GET IT)\nT
 his first session\, seeks to educate the youth about all the exciting IT c
 areers. Kids are encouraged to be curious\, ask questions\, and apply thei
 r analytical skills in creative role playing to help them understand the d
 ifferent career paths. To date\, the program has increased interest in IT 
 careers by a whopping 75%. \n\n Session 2: Learning Scratch\nIn this secon
 d session\, we will learn about an interactive program called “Scratch
 ”. This visual programming language feels more like you are creating you
 r own animated story. During this session\, the focus is to understand the
  core concepts so the kids are prepared for the next session. It will be s
 o fun\, they won’t even realize they are learning the basics of coding! 
 \n\n Session 3: Building with Scratch\nIn this third and final session\, t
 he kids will work with professional web developers to create their very ow
 n animated story. By working with professionals\, the kids will learn how 
 to work well in teams\, learn the basics of coding\, and see the excitemen
 t of being in an IT career. We will all work in quick\, iterative cycles a
 llowing them to see their vision come to light\, creatively solve issues\,
  and test and refine the end product just like in the real world. \n\n Tha
