DESCRIPTION: Reimagining the Future: Life in a Circular Economy \n\n What's
for breakfast in a Circular Economy Future? \n\n What happens to your sne
akers when you want a new pair in a Circular Economy Future? \n\n How do y
ou want to get to work in a Circular Economy Future? \n\n Wait..work? What
do you want to do in a Circular Economy Future? \n\n You might be wonderi
ng: Circular Economy? What’s that world\, anyway..? \n\n Join me as we i
magine into a world where there is no finish line\, but a continuous cycle
  – much like the seasons or the life of a butterfly. \n\n Ours is a wor
ld where waste is not avoided\, but a principle we assume is just a byprod
uct of our desires and needs. \n\n Can you #imagineharder that things don
't have to be this way? \n\n Can you imagine a world where there is no fin
ish line\, but a continuous cycle – much like the seasons or the life of
a butterfly. \n\n Ours is a world where waste is not avoided\, but a pri
nciple we assume is just a byproduct of our desires and needs. \n\n It do
esn't have to be this way. \n\n What if we could reshape our habits\, ind
ustries\, and lifestyles to fit a circulation of materials\, where everyth
ing has a purpose\, and nothing is ever discarded? \n\n Join me for Genera
l Seminar Season 04 Episode 04 where we'll dig into Circular Economy princ
iples — by literally going to a possible future in which the guiding pri
nciples of economic value creation and circulation and trying to make some
sense of what a Circular Economy world would be like. \n\n Offered at two
times for your convenience: 8AM PDT (UTC-7) and 4PM PDT (UTC-7)\nPick you
r ticket appropriately below. \n\n Understanding Our Current Reality\nFor
much of modern history\, we have embraced a linear model: we take\, we use
\, we discard. This "take-make-waste" approach may have once seemed revolu
tionary\, especially when magazines hailed the convenience of "throw-away
living." However\, as we face being smothered\, quite literally\, by the b
road implications of this model\, it becomes evident that this way of livi
 ng\, desiring\, “needing”\, isn't sustainable. \n\n The Circular Econo
my: A New Perspective\nCircular economy: a world where we design without w
aste\, maximize the lifespan of products\, and embrace systems that regene
rate and renew. Here\, the word "end" is obsolete. The challenges to achie
ving this are not small: \n\n 1. We need to design out waste and pollution
at the drawing board as a requirement. \n\n 2. We have to make products t
hat last. “Durable Goods” is not good enough: think of a hoodie\, work
wear\, or sneakers\, that outlives you\, or a vehicle designed not for ow
nership\, but for shared experiences. \n
