 e is an even greater need for the next generation Internet to be human cen
 tric. This means to give end-users full control over their data\, ensure e
 veryone has secure and trustworthy network and data access through advance
 d technologies\, and deal responsibly with natural resources. Internet gov
 ernance\, technical and web standard setting bodies in particular\, contin
 ue to play a major role in steering the community towards sustainability. 
 Every email sent\, every picture stored\, and every datapoint collected ha
 s an impact\, as long as it is kept and processed in the cloud. The intern
 et already uses 9% of global energy\, a total that by some of the most ext
 reme estimates could go up to as much as 23% of global greenhouse emission
 s by 2030. \n\n The Sustainable Next-Generation Internet Horizon Europe we
 binaris gathering top experts from the European Commission\, industry and 
 academia to present and discuss how energy-efficient technologies\, mechan
 isms\, and policies must be put in place at several levels to ensure a saf
 e\, resilient and sustainable Internet. \n\n Relevant Horizon Europe initi
 atives will be presented\, as well as concrete activities planned by the D
 igital for Planet – D4P Sustainable Next-Generation Internet Working Gro
