DESCRIPTION: World Interaction Design Day (#IxDD) is an annual event where 
 we come together as a united global community to show how interaction desi
 gn improves the human condition. Our aim is to have a positive\, long-last
 ing impact by facilitating activities that support dialogue and outcomes. 
 \n\n Join us to celebrate the World Interaction Design Day and\, together 
 with three fantastic speakers\, explore this year's theme of Fundamentals

 :00 \n\n Claire Acton - Citizen design – how to craft and embed impactfu
 l experiences for people \n\n Human centred design is focused on humans\, 
 but sometimes in large programmes with multiple forces shaping delivery th
 is focus gets lost. So how can we ensure when we are crafting user experie
 nces and visual identities in complex environments that the richness of th
 is experience is not diluted? Claire will draw on her experience across th
 e public sector to share her insights on how best to craft\, drive and emb
 ed good design in complex environments. Balancing innovation with legislat
 ion and technology challenges\, this talk will show you how to turn the di
 al as we work to modernise our public services for citizens needs. We desi
 gn for humans\, not a screen\, and this is what makes service design so in
 teresting. \n\n 19:00 - 19:30 \n\n Muireann McMahon - ‘(Un)Fitting in’
  Inclusion and Accessibility in Design Education \n\n Muireann’s talk wi
 ll explore how she teaches and researches with inclusion and accessibility
  to the fore. She will share her experiences from teaching across a number
  of different educational institutions and how her perspectives on design 
 education have changed and shifted over time. \n\n 19:30 - 20:00 \n\n  \nR
 ebecca Walsh - 6 reasons why 'technology first' projects fail \n\n From 6 
 years on a 'technology first' project \n\n \n\n About Claire \n\n Claire i
 s a Director in Deloitte Digital. She is a Senior Experience Designer &amp
 \; Design Strategist specialised in the public sector. Taking a human-cent
 red and design thinking approach\, Claire leads her teams to focus on craf
 ting a user experience and a visual design which is intuitive\, accessible
 \, and approachable for customers. Claire challenges clients to confront t
 heir conventional approaches to service delivery\, balancing innovation an
 d best-in-class experience with complex operational and legislative challe
 nges\, particularly in the public sector. Claire has experience advising t
 o the highest level of 7 Irish government Departments aswell as internatio
 nally in Canada\, and the UK and played a lead Design and leadership role 
 as part of the COVID-19 Irish response. Claire spent many years working in
  the UK public sector as well as designing digital experience for customer
  with varying abilities. \n\n  \nAbout Muireann \n\n Muireann is a lecture
 r on the BSc. Product Design + Technology and researcher with Design Facto
 rs in UL’s School of Design. Her work focuses on responsible design with
  emphasis on how design can contribute towards a positive future for peopl
 e and planet. She completed her PhD with Loughborough Design School\, UK\,
  in 2013 and has previously worked as a Design Lecturer at ArtCentre Colle
 ge of Design\, California the Institute of Technology\, Carlow (SETU)\; Un
 itec Auckland\, New Zealand\; Bournemouth University\, UK and as professio
 nal designer in the commercial furniture and interiors industry. \n\n  \nA
 bout Rebecca \n\n Rebecca is Design Director and Service Design Lead at Bi
 g Motive and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (IMechE). She holds an MEng (
 Hons) Aerospace Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast and brings o
 ver ten years of experience in user-centred design and service innovation 
 to her role at Big Motive. \n\n Beginning her career in Bombardier Aerospa
 ce working exclusively in aerodynamic design\, Rebecca joined Bombardier
 ’s innovation team to work on future aircraft design. She also worked wi
 th the Department of Finance Innovation Lab as the first Service Designer 
 in the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) working across all regional g
 overnment departments as well as local Government to promote service desig
 n and in particular user-centred design and design for citizens’ needs. 
 \n\n Rebecca is responsible for the delivery of high-quality experience de
 sign projects for a range of Big Motive’s clients. \n
