DESCRIPTION: Galway jazz guitarist and composer Aengus Hackett has honed hi
 s creative voice for many years in collaborations with the cream of Irelan
 d’s jazz scene. This is brought to the fore in his debut trio album feat
 uring two of Dublin’s finest improvisers\, Derek Whyte (bass) and Matthe
 w Jacobson (drums). Between them these three seasoned performers have work
 ed with leading international artists such as Kit Downes (UK)\, Ralph Ales
 si (US)\, Sanem Kalfa (TUR)\, and Irish stalwarts such as Mike Nielsen\, C
 onor Guilfoyle\, Ensemble Ériu and Dirty Jazz Club. \n\n Drawing on his d
 iverse influences\, Hackett’s music combines elements of jazz\, rock and
  electronica. With their collective experience as improvisers\, this group
  approaches Hackett’s melodic compositions with a freedom which is invig
 orating.  \n\n This allows the music to go wherever it wishes – gentle a
 nd lyrical\, rhythmic and energetic\, and when they take the leash off\, i
