DESCRIPTION: Film Noir UK invites you to indulge in another weekend of dang
er\, desire and despair with Film Noir Fest 2025. Set in the heart of West
on-super-Mare\, Film Noir Fest is the UK's only film festival dedicated to
showcasing the many aspects of film noir and classic crime films on the b
ig screen! \n\n Spread over the course of one weekend (31st October - 2nd
November)\, at Weston’s famous Plaza Cinema\, Film Noir Fest gives audie
nces the option to see a wide selection of 20+ films on two separate cinem
 a screens. \n\n Co-director James Harrison writes:\n"We open this second e
dition of the festival with a special Stanley Kubrick Film Noir Double Bil
 l marking the 70th Anniversary of Kubrick's Killer's Kiss (1955) a film wh
ich very much established the young film director as major talent\; and of
course\, it wouldn't be right without screening Kubrick's other film noir
masterpiece\, The Killing (1956) along side it. Both films will be screen
ed from the recent 4K restorations. Please note that this double bill will
be our opening event on the Friday\, starting at 4:00PM\, so get to Westo
n early if you can." \n\n "In fact\, Kubrick's The Killing kicks off our m
ain headline strand for this year. Expect plenty of cunning plans\, pistol
-whipping and shocking backstabbing within our 'Heist Noir' strand. Expect
classics such as The Asphalt Jungle (1950) and rarities like Plunder Road
(1957). \n\n On top of that\, the festival will delve back into the origi
ns of film noir and crime films with our special 'Heritage Noir' double bi
ll event on the Sunday afternoon with a screening of the first major heist
film ever made\, Edwin S. Porter's The Great Train Robbery (1903). To tie
in with this classic\, we have the brand new restoration of Victor Schert
zinger's forgotten silent crime classic Forgotten Faces (1928) starring Cl
ive Brook\, Mary Brian\, Olga Baclanova and a young William Powell. The gr
eat broadcaster and composer Neil Brand will return to accompany the films
live on piano. \n\n Film Noir Fest 2025 will also mark our first ever mul
ti year strand\; for our first project we will be showcasing the on and of
f screen work of London born star Ida Lupino (1918-1995). \n\n 'Ida Lupino
Part 1: Noir Siren' will focus on Lupino's on screen persona throughout h
er Hollywood film career\, as well as one of her earliest British screen a
ppearances. Titles included for this year's edition will include High Sier
ra (1941)\, Road House (1948)\, On Dangerous Ground (1951) and much more.
'Ida Lupino: Part 2' will take place during Film Noir Fest 2026 and look w
ill look at her work behind the camera. \n\n Film Noir Fest will also give
audiences a rare chance to see a variety of noir related titles from arou
nd the world. For 2025\, the 'International Noir' strand will include film
s from Japan\, France\, Spain and Australia. \n\n The festival will conclu
de on Sunday night to mark the centenary year of star Peggy Cummins with a
special 75th anniversary screening of Gun Crazy (1950)." \n\n All titles
for Film Noir Fest 2025 can now be found here. \n\n Early Bird Passes have
now sold out\, but limited festival passes are still available\, so we re
commend purchasing them very soon. \n\n Film Noir Fest is presented in col
laboration with BFI Audience Network\, Merlin Cinemas and Film Noir UK. \n
