DESCRIPTION: ENTSO-E is glad to invite stakeholders to a public workshop on
  Capacity Mechanisms\, in ENTSO-E on 18 June 2025 from 9:00 to 13:00. \n\n
Confirmed speakers include representatives from European Commission\, Eur
electric\, Compass Lexecon\, Florence School of Regulation\, SmartEN and R
AP. The Draft Agenda is available here. \n\n Both in person and online pa
rticipation are possible (registration link available below) \n\n As Europ
e accelerates its transition toward a decarbonised energy system\, ensurin
g system adequacy and security of supply remain a fundamental policy objec
tive. Once considered a temporary tools\, Capacity Mechanisms are increasi
ngly becoming integral components of national strategies to safeguard reso
urce adequacy. \n\n ENTSO-E's recently published policy paper “The Role
of Capacity Mechanisms to Enable a Secure and Competitive Energy Transiti
on”\, explores the evolving role of capacity mechanisms\, assessing curr
ent design challenges\, and developing a number of evidence-based policy r
ecommendations to support their future development. \n\n Several ongoing
policy developments have further highlighted the growing relevance of capa
city mechanisms. These include the EC proposals to streamline the approval
of capacity mechanisms under new Clean Industry State Aid Framework\, the
European Parliament’s own-initiative report on energy security\, and th
e upcoming revision of the EU energy security framework by the European Co
mmission in 2026. \n\n Against this backdrop\, ENTSO-E is organising an ex
pert-level public event to present the key findings of its policy paper an
d to facilitate an interactinve discussion among stakeholders and policy m
akers\, with the aim to identify solutions for introducing and desigining
capacity mechanisms supporting a secure and competitive energy transition.
\n\n Please note that in-person registrations will be closed once we rea
ch the maximum capacity of the meeting room. Online registrations are also
  available. \n\n \n
