DESCRIPTION: Join us for an afternoon of riding the train—for fun! Transi
 t enthusiast William Vogel takes you on a tour of Buffalo’s very own Met
 ro Rail\, our 6.4-mile light rail built in the 1980s and operated by the N
 iagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA). We will view the system
 ’s extensive collection of public art\, explore the under-appreciated ar
 chitecture of its stations\, and learn about its fascinating and sometimes
  misunderstood history. \n\n This tour takes place mostly indoors. Please 
 wear comfortable shoes and dress accordingly as it can get cool undergroun
 d. \n\n If you have a disability or need any accommodations\, please conta
 ct us before the tour date. Metro Rail is wheelchair accessible\, but some
  elevators and escalators are currently under repair. \n\n The tour is FRE
 E with registration\; donations are welcome. \n\n You will also need $5 CA
 SH to buy a Metro Day Pass. \n\n Tour meets at 1pm at Metro Rail Universit
 y Station\, on the concourse level near the ticket machines. Tour length i
 s approximately three hours. \n
