DESCRIPTION: This two-day conference will explore the experience of the mar
iners and communities of Wales who were engaged in Royal Navy\, Mercantile
Marine and fishing industries during the First World War. The conference
is intended both to showcase research and projects which have been underta
ken during the commemorative period\, but also to encourage further resear
ch and community-led heritage projects that explore the continuing impact
of the conflict in the post-war period. \n\n As well as a full programme o
f speakers on both days\, there will be practical\, hands-on demonstration
s and training in the use of online resources for researchers and a walk-a
nd-talk tour of Hancock’s Yard with David James. The conference is held
in conjunction with the U-boat project 1914-18’s full exhibition which h
ighlights the WW1 wrecks and tells the community stories uncovered by our
museum and community partners from around Wales. \n\n Please register you
