DESCRIPTION: CANCELLED \n\n This month we have two great presentations on p
rojects from the recent Inform Prize. \n\n 1. Search Aberdeen Registers \n
\n The "Search Aberdeen Registers" project is a web search and querying to
ol for text and image records of 14th century Aberdeen. The solution the s
tudents developed replaces a previous paid-for Elasticsearch implementatio
n with bespoke\, extensible\, and faster algorithms. They'll share insight
s into how they built this production-ready environment using Python\, Jav
 aScript\, PHP\, XML\, and Docker on an Oracle server. \n\n 2. Ape Scrape \
n\n ApeScrape is an AI powered mass web scraping tool. It allows the user
to collect consistently formatted data from lots of websites at once with
minimal setup\, by using AI to extract the data from webpages. \n\n Follow
ing the talks there will be the opportunity to work on coding challenges r
elated to these topics. \n\n If you don’t already have Python set up\, w
e can help you with that too. Coding in pairs or small groups (especially
mixing beginner and more experiences coders) is strongly encouraged\, thou
gh you can also code solo. \n\n ---------------------- \n\n \nThis is our
first session in our new premises\, which is still a work in progress. Th
at means that our disability access is not what we want it to be. If you a
re uncomfortable\, or unable to use stairs\, please book an online ticket
for the Zoom session. We are working to improve this but it will take a fe
w months. \n\n This event is orgnanised by a charity - Code The City. We s
uggest a small donation to help with charity admin costs\, but if this is
a barrier please just change the ticket price to what you can afford. \n\n
We're now back to running physical events backed up with an online option
. \n\n If you select a physical ticket and it happens that we can not meet
physically you will have to attend the Zoom session. \n\n Those attending
the physical space meetup should attend at 6pm for pizza and drinks. The
coding session (for online attendees) will be from 6.30pm. Doors will be l
ocked from 6.30pm. \n\n **If tickets are sold out please do not attend as
you will be refused entry without a ticket. ** \n\n Our booking system is
provided by Tito. Their platform is integrated with payment processing by
 Stripe \n
