DESCRIPTION: "Animal face-off: Pandas vs. Polars – The battle of data ana
lysis libraries in Python" - Arturo Ragalado \n\n In this talk\, Arturo wi
ll present a relatively new data analysis library: Pola-rs. The new librar
y claims to be a lightning-fast data frame library and a substitute to the
industry standard Pandas. He will provide data analysis examples and chal
lenges to discover the use cases of each library. \n\n Biography \n\n Artu
ro is a doctoral researcher with the University of Aberdeen and the Nation
al Decommissioning Centre. His research interest remains in the study of t
he economic effects of financial security instruments in decommissioning o
f oil and gas structures. He is an economist and data analyst with five ye
ars of experience in processing and interpreting data to give actionable i
nsights to decision makers. His previous experience in the energy sector i

een\, where he studied the effects of auction design on investment and dep
loyment of renewable energy projects\, and a BA in Economics from the Nati

hon set up\, we can help you with that too. Coding in pairs or small group
s (especially mixing beginner and more experiences coders) is strongly enc
ouraged\, though you can also code solo. \n\n This event is orgnanised by
a charity - Code The City. CTC suggests a small donation to help with char
ity admin costs\, but if this is a barrier please just change the ticket p
rice to what you can afford. \n\n We're now back to planning physical even
ts backed up with an online option. \n\n If you select a physical ticket a
nd it happens that we can not meet physically you will have to attend the
Zoom session. If you choose a physical ticket and it goes ahead you will h
ave to comply with any conditions of attendance (eg masks or social distan
cing) that the venue operators demand at the time. \n\n Those attending th

ed from 6.30pm. \n\n **If tickets are sold out please do not attend as you
will be refused entry without a ticket. ** \n\n Our booking system is pro
vided by Tito. Their platform is integrated with payment processing by Str
