DESCRIPTION: "Environmental monitoring with a Raspberry Pi" - Luke Buskie \
n\n Precis:\nGrowing up in the North East of Scotland I have always been i
nterested in our unique weather system. In 2019 with an effort to learn mo
re about computing I bought a RaspberryPi. Naturally the project that capt
ured my attention was titled "build your own weather station" and the stor
y begins. \n\n I will talk to the evolution of the project over the last f
ew years\, from construction (learning to solder) access to 3D printing (T
hanks Aberdeen Library) and various customizations including an air qualit
 y sensor\, deploying a website\, adding a camera and use of a machine lear
ning algorithm on my dataset to generate my own temperature forecast. The
learning curve has been steep\, with numerous mis-steps and "if i were to
do it again" anecdotes. \n\n Bio:\nLuke has worked as a reservoir engineer
for sixteen years primarily focused on oil and gas production forecasting
and field development decisions. Following the rapidly changing computer
science industry from the outside his curiosity has lead him to learn more
. \n\n This event is orgnanised by a charity - Code The City. CTC suggests
a small donation to help with charity admin costs\, but if this is a barr
ier please just change the ticket price to what you can afford. \n\n We're
now back to running physical events backed up with an online option. \n\n
If you select a physical ticket and it happens that we can not meet physi
cally you will have to attend the Zoom session. If you choose a physical t
icket and it goes ahead you will have to comply with any conditions of att
endance (eg masks or social distancing) that the venue operators demand at
the time. \n\n Those attending the physical space meetup should attend at
6pm for pizza and drinks. The coding session (for online attendees) will
be from 6.30pm. Doors will be locked from 6.30pm. \n\n **If tickets are so
ld out please do not attend as you will be refused entry without a ticket.
** \n\n Our booking system is provided by Tito. Their platform is integra
ted with payment processing by Stripe \n
