 mote sessions (via Zoom)\, the first on December 7 and the second on Decem

 ezone). These will be supplemented with optional prework\, inter-session w
 ork\, and afterwork including videos\, readings\, and discussion thereof. 
 \n\n Overview \n\n The use of the visual in supporting cognitive and colla
 borative work is powerful and yet too often underutilized even in design f
 ocused areas such as product\, systems and architecture design\, but also 
 in technical leadership. This workshop will draw on theory and include pra
 ctice\, and topics include: \n\n \n Increasing our observation and percept
 ion skills: what helps\; what gets in the way \n Supporting cognitive work
 : expressing thought visually \n Expressing thought visually: abstraction\
 , metaphor\, tips \n Drawing\, to draw in\, and draw out: supporting colla
 boration \n "I see what you mean": visual communication and persuasion \n 
 Visual modeling in visual design \n Seeing systems: concepts\, models and 
 practice \n \n\n We don't have required reading for this class\, but we wi
 ll share plenty of recommended reading in various related areas. We use a 
 Slack workspace for the workshop for async conversation\, and the class se
 ssions are extended with (optional) office hours. The class materials furt
 her extend the discourse. \n\n We will also have an opportunity to join a 
 daily Advent(ure) in Systems Journaling peer group\, to encourage each oth
 er and share ideas. \n\n Audience: Software and systems architects and oth
