DESCRIPTION: This International Women’s Day we are honoured to have Dr Ma
 rie Cassidy join us for our annual Women in Medicine event. Dr Marie Cassi
 dy studied Medicine at the University of Glasgow. She became a member of t
 he Royal College of Pathologists in 1985\, and in that same year became th
 e UK's first female full-time forensic pathologist. After moving to Irelan
 d she took up the position of Deputy State Pathologist before being name I
 reland's first female State Pathologist in January 2004. She went on to be
 come a professor of forensic medicine at both Trinity College and the Roya
 l College of Surgeons\, as well as acting as a consultant for the United N
 ations in Bosnia. \nIn 2020 Dr Cassidy released her number on best-selling
  memoir Beyond the Tape: The Life and Many Deaths of a State Pathologist. 
 This was followed by a three part series on RTÉ entitled Dr. Cassidy's Ca
 sebook in which Dr Cassidy reflected on issues and cases which shaped her 
 career in Ireland. Furthermore Dr Cassidy has acted as a forensic consulta
 nt on television series including Nova\, Death Duties and Taggart\, as wel
 l advising Irish crime writer Alex Barclay.\nJoin us in Trinity Business S
 chool's Dargan theatre at 7pm on March 8th for Dr. Marie Cassidy in conver
 sation with Dublin University Biological Association. We would also like t
