DESCRIPTION: [youtube:Y7NzXl-ahtU] \n\n This virtual workshop with Paul Ray
ner consists of 4 sessions on Sep 28-Oct 1 from 9am-Noon (CDT) each day. \
n\n Collaboration between different disciplines in your organization can b
e difficult\, and finding clarity and alignment on both the right problem
to solve and the right solution design even more so. We each approach impr
ovement from our own (limited) perspective\, without taking into account t
he whole story. How is that effective? \n\n EventStorming is a workshop fo
rmat that promotes collaboration between different disciplines in order to
solve business problems in the most effective way. \n\n What you will lea
rn \n\n In this highly hands-on and interactive virtual workshop you'll le
arn advanced EventStorming facilitation skills spanning from large scale b
usiness discovery to collaborative solution design at the team level. \n\n
Learn how to facilitate the different EventStorming formats applied to re
al business problems\, taking into account the different perspectives (inc
luding the facilitator). Practice applying EventStorming to various proble
ms\, reflecting on your learning and questions as we go deeper into the te
chniques. \n\n Learn tips and tricks for effective facilitation of collabo
rative workshops in both in-person and virtual settings\, and practice pla
nning anEventStorming session for your own context. \n\n \n\n "We really e
njoyed the EventStorming workshop! Paul’s facilitation style and method
ology made the exercise easy to understand\, and participation and collabo
ration came with ease. He’s very good at tactfully encouraging differin
g opinions through thoughtful discussion. The workshop was a huge success
 with a highly valuable end result!" \n\n \n\n \n\n Session 1 - EventStorm
ing as a big picture discovery tool \n\n \n Quick kick-off: where are we a
nd where we want to go. \n EventStorming dry-run: modeling a narrative. \n
Exploring the whole using Big Picture EventStorming - mastering complexit
y and unknowns in large scale modeling. \n Identifying emergent boundaries
through structural elements such as key events. \n Managing conflicts\, h
ighlighting risk\, and the problems really worth solving. \n EventStorming
as a platform for problem solving. \n \n\n Session 2 - Using EventStormin
 g to model a process \n\n \n Process Modeling EventStorming: a cross-disci
pline platform for collaborative modeling. \n Improving our process explor
ing motivations of different actors. \n A different perspective on softwar
e design: the picture that explains everything. \n Make policies explicit.
\n Design around value: hidden and explicit motivators. \n Constraining m
odeling to specific business cases to stay focused \n \n\n Session 3 - Usi
ng EventStorming to design a system \n\n \n Design-Level EventStorming: le
veraging collaborative modeling to sketch bullet-proof models quickly. \n
Aggregates and consistency: independent moving parts in a large system. \n
Design around the bottleneck: changing the rules of the game. \n Blend us
er experience design and service design into software design. \n Triggerin
g bullet-proof design with visible state. \n The transaction illusion. \n
From sticky notes to working software. When to go for a sophisticated arch
 itecture. \n \n\n Session 4 - Putting it all into practice \n\n \n Virtual
and in-person facilitation tips and tricks \n Design your own EventStormi
ng workshop and present it for feedback. \n \n\n Workshop Format \n\n \n\n
  \n Four instructor-led hands-on 3 hour online class sessions. \n Live ins
truction using Zoom and Miro (i.e. collaborative online whiteboard) in eac
h session. \n After every workshop session you’ll have time for deep-div
e discussions during optional “office hours” sessions with Paul\, your
instructor. \n You will need a good webcam\, internet connection and micr
ophone to participate in this workshop. In order to maximize engagement\,
we require all participants keep their webcams on during the workshop. \n
We will send you detailed instructions for the workshop a couple of weeks
prior. \n Upon finishing the class you will receive an electronic certific
ate of completion. \n \n\n This workshop is highly hands-on\, varied\, and
interactive. We will be doing group exercises in Zoom breakout rooms. By
spreading the training into shorter interactive virtual sessions\, we mini
mize the impact to your daily work and keep your energy levels high. \n\n
Virtual learning can be intense\, so there will be scheduled breaks every
hour. Plus\, if your kids interrupt\, dogs bark\, or you need to step away
for a bit\, that's just part of the experience and perfectly fine with us
. Our goal is for you to leave the workshop energized and ready to put int
o practice what you've learned. In attending this virtual workshop you agr
ee to: \n\n \n Be present while also taking care of your needs. \n Extend
empathy and acceptance to the other participants. \n Be on video and avoid
unnecessary distractions. \n \n\n \n\n Who Should Attend \n\n Anybody wh
o works in software teams or with software teams will be able to fully par
ticipate in this workshop and take away concrete skills they can apply in
real working situations. This includes software developers\, architects\,
 testers\, product owners\, business analysts\, delivery managers\, enginee
ring managers\, directors\, and CTOs. \n\n \n\n "Our EventStorming session
with Paul was a huge success. He’s very adept at guiding and informing
the process while allowing participants to storm\, discuss and ultimately
reach their own conclusions. We emerged from the session with a much bette
r understanding and greater agreement around our domains." \n\n About Paul
