 en influenced by the changing attitudes in society in the early 19th centu
 ry and how law shaped the evolution of sport at that time. From a Sunday O
 bservance Act of 1625 which tried to curb participation in sporting and re
 creational events on a Sunday to Sir William Pultney’s Bill in 1800 whic
 h sought to out-law bull baiting\, the law has had an impact on sporting e
 vents for centuries. \n\n Preceded by a presentation on Gambling Regulatio
 n Bill 2022 - The impact on sports fundraising by Marguerite Kehoe BL \n\n
  \n\n Chaired by The Honorable Mr. Justice Conor Dignam \n\n Speakers: \n\
 n Dr Paul Rouse\, Professor of History\, University College Dublin \n\n Ma
 rguerite Kehoe BL - Update on recent legislation \n\n At the end of the pr
 esentation\, participants will\; \n\n • Understand the development of la
 w in the sporting sphere and the influence of societal changes on sport.\n
 • Recognise key aspects of the development of sports law \n\n \n\n The f
 ree learning event is open to both barristers and solicitors from across t
 he island of Ireland. \n\n The CPD will be followed by a drinks reception 
 at the Distillery Building \n\n Dr. Paul Rouse is a professor at Universit
 y College Dublin and has extensively researched and authored texts on the 
 history of Irish and global sport.\nDr. Rouse also writes a weekly column 
 for the Irish Examiner newspaper and presents the Examiner Sport podcast o
